Club Business
The July 9th meeting was a lively affair with fourteen people in attendance. The upcoming Flight 19 show is around the corner, the theme is 80’s, so you have about a month to get something built to put on the table. There was talk of the club getting a vendor table as a group to sell any unwanted or orphan kits. Yes or no ? The club has some make ‘n take kits, an idea to man a table and have a make ‘n take at the Flight 19 show was proposed, a two hour time frame was mentioned, it would need a couple of club volunteers, it has to be approved by Flight 19 so this may or may not happen.
The group build is done ! The Ford GT donated by Rex is stunning, a true museum quality model. It presented well with all it’s opening features. Robert posted build and completed images here, check it out. Rex, Brad, Danny, Ed and Robert contributed their respective talents on the car. Though we all worked on the car, special mention goes to Danny and Robert who did the grunt work, fitting, cursing and sweating everything until it was right and working late to complete it to be able to present it to Rex in person. Great job guys, what’s next ?
The July 9th meeting was bittersweet as it was Rex’s “last” meeting with us before his move to the wild west of the US of A, He addressed the club and stated he enjoyed his three years with us. Rex was a great addition to the club, always having interesting and esoteric, seldom seen models for Show ‘n Tell, he got the club to have a display at the car show on Miami Beach as exposure and an outreach to the public. Rex’s automotive & model knowledge was encyclopedic especially with his beloved Mustangs and Ford GT’s, throw in those Cobra Daytonas too. He traveled to various car events all over the country regaling the club with his adventures and purchases. The best of luck to you and your family, you will be missed. Hopefully you will keep in contact online and check on us at the website. Take care my friend.
Robert has created a nice website for the club, one feature enables club members to post pictures of our builds, So far Danny, Rex and Ed have posted. Everyone in the club should be represented with some of their work. It’s not difficult, even I did it. Go here and post some of your models!
