Club Business

With 8 attendees, one of which was Thomas, all the way from Germany, informed us about the state of the hobby across the pond. It is very healthy with shows and clubs with a military model preference. Up-coming Model Shows were discussed. Tommy and Robert are considering another field trip for the club to a special place in Weston. More to come on that later.

Show and Tell – IMAGES OPEN IN NEW TAB

Brad, continuing with his racing boats, revealed a stunning Revell Mach 1 Formula Boat, with truck and trailer. This kit is from the 80’s and had some issues that Brad’s skill and persistence overcame, like wonky decals, paint layering methods and more. An excellent build!

Tommy moved from the Mopar to a 2022 Corvette by Revell. He’s experimenting with an orange color combination on the interior. When completed, it should be a very handsome build. Also, Tommy brought a Gundam! In a small clear case (Japanese Style), every detail of the exquisite Gundam build is visible. Nice job.

Ed Cole showed off his first Trumpeter build. It is a 1964 Ford Falcon in a beautiful Orange metallic with pearl white interior. He largely liked the Trumpeter kit except for the engine bay. Regardless, the completed model is up to Ed Cole’s usual standard: Excellent.

Joe Callazo revealed a trio of Metallic Red WIPS. They are ALL Revell kits. First is the 1969 Charger with HEAVY wide body modifications thanks to Joe’s skills and 3D printed fenders. The color is a Tropical Glitz red, with 1K clear. Next up is the 1959 Cadillac with 3D printer LSA engine. In a different red metallic with 1K clear. Finally, he hasa hevily modified Bone Daddy motorcycle. With a scratch built rear fender and ultra-wide RC car tire, the bake’s future stance is gonna be chunky. Excellent progress on all three!

Robert, not shying away from his failure, brought in his El Camino WIP that was supposed to be Chrome with a Purple Candy on top. None of it worked so he had to pivot with the basecoat and chose Tamiya’s Chrome Silver then attempted to mix Tamiya Clear Red and Clear Blue in a bottle. He got brown… He then tried shooting a coat of the clear blue then a coat of the clear red and he got black cherry. Tired of the issues with the build, he committed to the black cherry color and took it very dark.
